Professor Paul Yip Siu-fai has been tracking Hong Kong’s suicide rate for more than two decades and developing programmes to help reduce it. The recent period has been one of the worst for young and old alike.

Outstanding Researcher Awards 2023-24
Seventeen winners were awarded in the 2023-24 Outstanding Researcher Awards Scheme, the annual awards for research excellence which aim to recognise, honour and reward exceptional work in research by HKU staff. Awardees were celebrated at a presentation ceremony in March 2025.
